Industrial Lighting for Machine Vision

di-soric's BE series of LED lighting systems is built for contrast amplification in machine vision and image processing applications. The portfolio covers seven distinct lighting geometries — area, bar, spot, ring, coaxial, dark field, and dome. Products are available in all application-relevant color temperatures and are distinguished by features such as load-free trigger, trigger inversion, and brightness adjustment.

Key Features

  • Full range of lighting geometries (area, bar, spot, ring, coaxial, dark field, dome) for any inspection scenario and installation constraint.
  • Available in all application-relevant light colors and color temperatures to match camera sensitivity and target material.
  • Load-free trigger and trigger inversion for synchronizing illumination precisely with camera exposure.
  • Brightness adjustment available on select models for optimizing contrast to the specific application.
  • High protection class for integration in industrial production environments.
  • Designed for use alongside di-soric vision sensors and third-party machine vision cameras.

Applications

  • Surface defect detection on machined, stamped, or printed components using dark field or coaxial illumination.
  • Label presence, OCR, and barcode reading with homogeneous barlight or ring illumination.
  • Contour and outline detection of objects against a lit or dark background using area or bar lights.
  • Shadow-free inspection of reflective or scratched surfaces using dome illumination.
  • Axial illumination with reflection suppression for reading engraved or embossed features using coaxial lights.
  • Component presence and position verification on assembly lines.
  • Pharmaceutical and food industry inspection requiring consistent, trigger-synchronized illumination.

Product Family Overview

Series Type Illumination Style Primary Use
BE-F Area lights Uniform background illumination Contour and outline detection; camera top-view background; silhouette imaging
BE-B Barlights Intense, homogeneous linear bar Surface and outline detection on elongated objects; web and sheet inspection
BE-P Spotlights Focused, targeted spot Narrow installation spaces; surface and outline detection; multiple beam angles available
BE-R Ringlights Symmetrical, shadow-free ring Shadow-free illumination for surface and outline detection; diffuser and polarizer options
BE-K Coaxial lights Axial, on-axis illumination Shadow-free illumination; suppression of surface reflections; engraved / embossed features
BE-D Darkfield lights Grazing, transverse-to-camera Surface defect enhancement; scratches, burrs, and texture contrast amplification
BE-DOME Dome lights Extremely diffuse spherical Reflective, curved, or scratched surfaces; maximum shadow suppression; robust feature contrast

Selecting the Right Lighting Geometry

Use bright-field lighting when:

  • You need to see the shape or outline of an object against a bright background (area lights, ringlights).
  • You need even, shadow-free illumination across the whole surface (dome or ringlight).
  • The target has engraved, printed, or embossed features requiring on-axis illumination (coaxial).

Use dark-field lighting when:

  • You need to reveal surface texture, scratches, cracks, burrs, or edges through grazing illumination.
  • The surface is highly reflective and bright-field imaging saturates or washes out the defect.
  • You need high contrast on subtle height differences on a flat surface.
